Vest keramiek - Van Woerden stickers The name "Vest Keramiek" and "VAN WOERDEN" are printed on stickers.
Six different stickers are known.
Very old vases have sometimes "VAN WOERDEN" on the bottom.

In the early days, the vases were made of red clay.
Black clay was used for a short time

Most vases are made of white bakingclay.

Van Woerden  - Vest vlakke bodem met naad Almost all Vest vases have a flat bottom. They are cast and a seam can be seen on the bottom in the middle. This line indicates the place where the two halves of the mold were connected.

The edge of the bottom is usually angle-cut.

Vest pasted small felt pads on the bottom. Usually they are green but also gray and beige occur.

The numbers consist of one or two letters followed by one or two digits, e.g. NG 25 or K3.
An exception is the 100 and 200 series.
The numbers are usually written on the bottom with felt-tip pen or pencil. Often there is a point between letter (s) and number.
Stamps have also been used. A frame is sometimes (partially) visible.
For a very short period numbers were cast.

Vest keramiek - Van Woerden  kenmerken glazuren Vest has made characteristic glazes. The best known are those with a lava structure, but there are also smooth ones that are sometimes shiny.

The glaze on the inside is shiny. First the inner glaze was dark brown. Later on Vest switched to a glaze that was translucent. The glaze had the color of the white clay. Both glazes were used interchangeably for a fairly long period.

Other factories have sometimes made some glazes who differ very little from those of Vest.

Vest keramiek kan NK 2 en onbekende vaas of kan met standring There are several manufacturers that have made products that are often confused with Vest. Examples are the German factories Jopeko and Walther Becht and the Dutch companies Prosman and Duif's Keramiek.

With the models of other factories there are always differences with real Vest.

Identification on the shape alone is often unreliable.
